Coronavirus – What You Need to Know

Coronavirus Overview

The name of the virus is SARS Co V2.  SARS stands for severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2.

The name of the illness is COVID-19.

The fatality rate is 2-3% compared to influenza which has a fatality rate of 0.1%.

The incubation period is 4-14 days.

Once you develop symptoms, you will be most contagious around day 5 of the illness, but of course you can still be contagious even before you develop symptoms.

The Importance of Handwashing

20 seconds minimum when washing your hands with soap and water, which is the same as singing “Happy Birthday” twice.

Hand sanitizer is ok, but not as good as soap and water.

Important that you completely dry your hands after washing.

Avoid touching your mouth, eyes and nose

If you sneeze, cover your mouth with your elbow (sneeze like a vampire).

If you are sick you can cover your nose and mouth with a mask to help keep you from spreading germs to others.

Ensure your immune system is functioning optimally

You can not control everything you are exposed to, but you can ensure that your immune system is functioning optimally. I recommend taking vitamin D3 @ 6000 u/day, and getting proper sleep.
