Are Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatments for the Face and Scalp Painful?

People have asked us how do we deliver PRP to the scalp or to the face for both hair growth or facial rejuvenation, and is it painful and do we need anesthetics?

We have a special injection device that allows us to deliver the PRP at a very precise depth. There’s a dial on the end of the instrument that allows us to control precisely where the PRP is delivered.

It might feel like a little prickle of bacon fat. If you’ve ever cooked bacon on the stove, you know what that feels like. A little droplet of fat jumps out of the pan and it gives you a little prickle for just an instant. If you feel that we dial back the depth until we’re at exactly the correct level.

Once we make that adjustment, all you’ll feel is similar to a tapping massage onto your skin, either your scalp or your face.

The complete treatment of PRP is designed to be essentially completely pain free. So we don’t even have to use any anesthetic either for the scalp or for the face.
