When is the best time to start a PRP treatment after a sports injury?

Today I am talking about platelet rich plasma for sports injuries. When is the best time to have your injury treated with platelet rich plasma? Well, if you’ve had an acute injury to muscle, we would like to try to address that within 10 to 14 days. If you have had surgery to repair a torn structure like a tendon or a ligament, we would want to see you within 10 to 14 days of the surgery. However, there are some other structures where sometimes these problems will be quite chronic, like golfer’s elbow for instance, or an Achilles tendon problem.

Oftentimes people have been plagued with these symptoms for many, many months before they come to see us, and that’s okay, we can still address the problem even if it’s been quite chronic. Often we find one simple injection of platelet-rich plasma can correct a problem that has been nagging somebody for many months.
